Antirobe is a narrow-spectrum antibiotic that fights bacterial infections in dogs. This antibiotic is effective against strains of bacteria found in skin infections, wound infections, bone infections, pneumonia, periodontitis, and gum disease. Antirobe raises the white blood cell count, helping to prevent the spread of bacteria. It also acts on bacteria by inhibiting the production of proteins, thus stopping the growth of susceptible strains of bacteria.

How it works:

Antirobe penetrates to the source of the bacterial infection. It inhibits bacteria by suppressing protein synthesis and growth.

Storage:

Should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

Do not give more of this medication than is prescribed without consulting your veterinarian. Anipryl may cause drowsiness or dizziness.Antibiotics can cause diarrhea. If the diarrhea is watery or has blood in it, call your veterinarian. Do not use any medication to stop the diarrhea unless your veterinarian has told you to do so.
  • Antirobe capsules are used in the treatment of serious infections such as soft tissue infections, dental infections, and bone infections. Anipryl is a prescription medication used in dogs for the treatment of Cushing's disease caused by a pituitary tumor.
  • Give this medication the entire length of time prescribed by your veterinarian. Symptoms may get better before the infection is fully treated.
  • Discontinue if no response is seen within 3-4 days.
  • For osteomyelitis in dogs, treatment should be continued for a minimum of 28 days.
Pet Weight range Dosage
Dogs All weights The usual dose for dogs is 2.5-15 mg/lb every 12 hours for a maximum of 28 days.
Cats All weights The usual dose for cats is 5-15 mg/lb once every 24 hours for a maximum of 14 days.

Cautions

Antibiotics can cause diarrhea. If the diarrhea is watery or has blood in it, call your veterinarian. Do not use any medication to stop the diarrhea unless your veterinarian has told you to do so.

Possible side effects:

If any of the following serious side effects occur, stop giving Antirobe and seek emergency veterinary medical help: an allergic reaction (hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat). Stop the medication and talk to your veterinarian if any of these side effects occur: diarrhea that is watery or bloody, fever, chills, body aches, nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, jaundice, urinating less than usual or not at all, fever, headache, or blistering or peeling of the skin. Side effects other than those listed in this guide may occur. Talk to your veterinarian about any side effect that is unusual or especially bothersome to your pet.
