Adequan Equine is recommended for the intramuscular treatment of non-infectious degenerative and/or traumatic joint dysfunction and associated lameness of the carpal and hock joints in horses. Adequan Equine (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan) is the only FDA-approved treatment proven to relieve symptoms of non-infectious degenerative osteoarthritis, to stimulate cartilage repair, and reverse the joint disease process. There is no generic version of Adequan Equine.

For:

Horses

Benefits:

  • Non-infectious degenerative joint dysfunction in horses
  • Traumatic joint dysfunction in horses
  • Associated lameness of the carpal and hock joints in horses

How it works:

Adequan inhibits enzymes that break down cartilage within your horse's joints. It reduces inflammation and increases the thickness of joint (synovial) fluid.

Storage:

Store Adequan at 68° - 77°F (20° - 25°C) excursions permitted to 59° - 86° (15° - 30°C).

Keep this medication out of the reach of children and pets.

How to Use:

  • The recommended dose of Adequan Equine in horses is 500 mg every 4 days for 28 days intramuscularly.
  • The injection site must be thoroughly cleansed prior to injection.
  • Do not mix Adequan Equine with other drugs or solvents.

Each 5 milliliters of Adequan Equine contains 500 mg of Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan and Water for Injection q.s. Sodium Hydroxide and/or Hydrochloric Acid added when necessary to adjust pH.

Sodium Chloride may be added to adjust tonicity.

Polysulfated glycosaminoglycan is a naturally-occurring complex molecule that is the essential building block of the cartilage matrix.

Adequan travels into injured joints and stimulates production of new cartilage while relieving the symptoms of non-infectious degenerative joint disease.
